OWEN Crossovers

Title: The Purloined Paper Reprise
Author: Cielag
Type: Crossovers - Meet the Parents, Shanghai Noon (based on "Sagwa")
Genre: General
Disclaimer: I do not own any characters from "Sagwa" nor am I seeking or earning a profit from any of my "Sagwa" fan fiction. Amy Tan is author of the original "Sagwa" stories.
P/L: : Sagwa returns back to her native hometown in China. Sagwa then reflects her adventures and what she's learned from it.

I am really glad to be home! After an adventure like that, anyone would be glad to return home! Although, I do miss being on an exciting mystery solving adventure as well as meeting some of my fellow admirers!

The thief was caught. But in reality, there was no crime. He copied an idea not the entire thing. He used characters from the movie and simply approached it in a different manner. Although, he did admit that he was inspired by my artistic references as well as the mythology involved from my story. That's why it appeared to me as though that my story was stolen.

And, as I think about it more, it was a hypocrite who spoke during the lecture I gave about being original with your stories. When you write fan fiction, you are being original, but not. You are using someone else's characters, settings, and perhaps an idea. But, in addition to that, you are also being original and creative by thinking of different situations for the character(s) to be in.

That's what both our stories were, fan fiction. Obviously the thief was remorseful over the crime he actually did commit. Telling a falsehood is a very serious matter, no matter where you are from. Lying to one person or another is simply dishonest and dishonorable! You cannot have integrity when you lie. And once you lie, it's harder to control and even harder to admit. Tell the truth from the beginning and surely you will receive less punishment for your crime rather than lie and wind up in more trouble later.

That's what our thief should have done. Instead, he decided to lie to the people that relied and trusted heavily on him and then he lied to me! I couldn't believe that he actually looked me in the eye and outright LIED! I guess he was fearful of the "magic" cauldron that was in the book. In some cases I wish there was a magic cauldron to tell me who is lying and who is not. Then I wouldn't have to go through such a mess just to find out who is a liar.

Happily though, the thief is caught and the liar is punished. But for his alleged crime of "purloining" I have decided to dismiss the case. He did admit that he stole the whole "Egyptian" concept and simply switched it to "Roman" architecture to make it sound original. He also said I should be flattered that my writing was so splendid that it was worth copying. Go figure.

Life is back to normal here in China, sort of. Like Memphis had hoped, I was inspired by the day's events and I have written a story that reflects that journey. As you can tell, you are just completing that story.

But let me tell you what happened to the others. Jack returned back home to the Brynes family and married his daughter off to some charming young gentleman and then let his youngest daughter, Pam, marry the clumsy but gentle Greg. Unfortunately though, Kevin's beautiful arch was set ablaze accidentally. The supposed report was that it was an electrical fire of some sort that brought down the beautiful piece of art.

Frank returned back to his unit and was welcomed by mostly everyone. Major Hullihan was the happiest one of all of them to see Frank return. Frank has since written an apologetic letter to me about lying and copying my idea. I replied that he had been forgiven and that perhaps I shall give him one more chance to prove himself worthy of reading other stories.

Amazingly, Memphis lived through what was thought to be a fatal wound. He told me that the medics came just as the book closed and he got medical treatment. Upon his return back to San Francisco, Memphis began creating blank books in which I could travel to different worlds. The cover of the book decided the place to travel. I guess even the saying; "Don't judge a book by its cover" has its exceptions!

As for the gallant Jesse James, well he returned back to Tennessee and back into the loving arms of his wife, Zee. He's making a name for himself in that state, doing special errands for the town folks and he even helped Stitch find his way home.

Right now I'm gearing up to go back to the Wild West, or so it has been called, to meet up with Jesse and we're going to go on an adventure that I hope will be loads of fun! If you have the time, come drop by and see what is going to happen next! ~^..^~
