On Wednesday, Owen Wilson and girlfriend Jade Duell made a rare family appearance in Venice, Calif. with Robert Ford — their baby boy, who was born in Hawaii Jan. 14.

It’s been a long while since the Cars 2 actor’s son has been seen out and about, and he’s growing up fast! Held aloft by his proud papa, the little guy (who goes by “Ford”) wore a white sunhat, a bright bib and adorable Chuck Taylor-style sneakers. A month after becoming a dad for the first time, Wilson said he was “glowing” over his son, “a very cute little boy who’s doing well…It’s very exciting!”

Owen Wilson has revealed his surprise that his Cars role hasn’t introduced him to a new army of young fans. The US actor, who lends his voice to race car Lightning McQueen in the sequel, doesn’t often get recognised by children.

“Little kids don’t believe there’s someone doing a voice for Lightning McQueen,” he said. “I have parents that are like, ‘This is Lightning McQueen’ and the kid just stares at me blankly.”
